Privacy Notice

1. Who we are
Charred Oak Premium Spirits (“Charred Oak,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is a retail beverage alcohol store at 2900 E University Dr, Ste 125, Auburn, Alabama 36830, operated by Amrut Spirits. This notice explains what information we collect through this website, in our store, and in the internal software we use to run the business, and what we do with it.
2. The short version
We are a liquor store, not a data business. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We collect the least we need to serve you, to run the store, and to meet Alabama’s legal requirements — and we keep it no longer than we need it.
3. Information we collect through this website
Age confirmation. When you confirm you are 21 or older, that confirmation is stored in your own browser so we do not ask again. It is not sent to us and is not linked to you.
Things you choose to send. If you contact us by phone, email, or social media, we receive whatever you put in that message — typically a name, a way to reach you, and what you are asking about. The Site itself currently has no forms that transmit anything to us: the list planner and shopping list run entirely in your browser (see Local storage) and are shared with us by phone.
Technical information. Like nearly every website, our host records ordinary request data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and time of request, for security and reliability.
Local storage. The Site stores small preferences and your shopping list in your browser, such as your age confirmation, display choices, and the lists you build in the planner. These stay on your device; we cannot see them, and clearing your browser storage removes them.
Sign-ups. If you join our list, ask to be told when a bottle is back, or put your name in for a barrel pick, we collect your name, your e-mail address, and your date of birth, and we record which form you used and when. We use the date of birth only to confirm you are 21 or older; a sign-up from anyone under 21 is refused and nothing is stored. These details are stored in our own database and e-mailed to our store inbox so a member of staff can act on them.
Pickup orders. If you send us a list from the planner, we collect your name, your phone number, your e-mail address if you give one, your date of birth (checked for 21+, not kept on the order), and the bottles and quantities you asked for. Nothing is charged online: the order is a request, we call you to confirm, and you pay at the register with ID in hand.
4. Information we collect in the store
Transactions. Our point-of-sale system records what was purchased, when, at what price, and how it was paid. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
Identification. We check government-issued photo ID for every alcohol purchase. We look at it to confirm age and identity. We do not retain a copy or a scan of your ID as part of an ordinary sale.
Holds and special orders. If you ask us to hold a bottle, source something, or plan an event, we write down what we need to fulfil it — usually a name, a phone number, and the items.
5. Our internal operations platform
Amrut Spirits builds and runs its own operations software for its stores. It brings together point-of-sale data, purchasing, inventory, supplier invoices, and marketing performance so the people running the business can see stock, cost, and sales in one place.
That platform is internal. It is used only by our own staff, it is not sold or licensed to anyone, and no third party is given access to it. It works mainly with product, inventory, cost, and supplier data rather than customer data.
6. Advertising and the Google Ads API
We advertise our own store through a Google Ads account that Amrut Spirits owns and pays for. Our internal platform reads that account’s performance figures — impressions, clicks, cost, conversions, budgets — through the Google Ads API, so we can compare what we spend on advertising against what sells in the store.
We use that access only for our own advertising account. We do not manage advertising for any other business, we do not act on behalf of third-party advertisers, and nothing produced by that integration is sold or shared outside our company. Google’s own privacy policy governs the data Google holds about ad interactions.
7. How we use information
To complete and record sales, and to meet Alabama ABC and tax requirements. To fulfil holds, special orders, allocations, and event requests. To answer questions you send us. To keep the store, the Site, and our systems secure and working. To understand what sells so we can buy better. And, where you have asked for it, to tell you about new arrivals, barrel picks, and events.
8. Messages you have asked for
If you join a list or ask us to let you know when something lands, we will contact you about that, from charredoakauburn@gmail.com. Every message we send includes a way to stop, and you can tell any staff member to remove you at any time. We do not sell or rent our lists.
9. Cookies and analytics
The Site uses only what it needs to function, plus ordinary hosting logs. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the ordinary request data (such as your IP address) needed to serve them; everything else is served from our own site. There is no analytics, advertising measurement, or tracking pixel. If we later add any, we will update this notice and describe what is collected before it is turned on.
10. Who we share information with
Service providers who help us operate: our point-of-sale vendor, our payment processor, our website host, and our email or messaging provider. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
Regulators and law enforcement where the law requires it, including the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
A successor, if the business is sold or reorganised.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
11. How we protect information
Access to our systems is limited to staff who need it, protected by individual accounts, and our databases and connections are encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously and we keep the amount of personal information we hold small on purpose.
12. How long we keep it
Transaction and tax records for as long as Alabama law requires. Hold and special-order notes only until the order is done. Contact preferences until you ask us to stop. Ordinary server logs for a short period for security.
13. Children
This Site is intended only for adults 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, and ask us to stop contacting you. Call the store or write to us at the address below and we will help. We will not treat you differently for asking.
15. Changes to this notice
If we change this notice we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Material changes will be described at the top of the page.
